Hancock kicks off holiday weekend with Spring Festival The First Annual Upper Delaware Spring Festival is slated for Friday, May 27, 2005, in downtown Hancock. The day-long celebration, sponsored by more than 100 Hancock area businesses and organizations, will kick off the Memorial Day weekend with special events that include a Big Fish Contest, Art Show, and dedication of the new Village of Hancock sign at the East Front Street parking lot. A variety of crafts vendors are expected, and exhibitors will include the National Park Service and the Hancock Rotary, which will offer a preview of the new community clock to be installed later this summer at the corner of East Main and Read streets. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS 8 AM - 4 PM: Big Fish Contest. Catches will be measured at the municipal parking lot at 4 PM. Contest rules and entry forms are available at Hancock Village Clerk's office. 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM: Face Painting for kids of all ages. 10 AM - 5:30 PM: River Art Show at the Town Hall. Area artists exhibit their favorite "riverscapes." 6 PM - Cash prizes will be awarded to winning artists at 6:00 PM across from the Municipal Parking Lot. 5 PM - 7 PM: Wine tasting, courtesy of the Hancock Liquor Store. 5 PM - 7 PM: Barbecue steak dinner across from the parking lot, catered by French Woods Golf & Ski Resort. $11.95 per person. 7 PM - 7:30 PM: Dedication of the new Village of Hancock sign, donated by Hancock Partners. 7 PM - 10 PM: Dancing to the sounds of dual DJ’s.
